The death of Martin MacDONALD occurred Friday morning, May 7, 2004, after a lengthy illness at the Miramichi Regional Hospital. He was the son of the late John A. MacDONALD and Sadie [BRADY] MacDONALD. Born in Chatham, he resided in Bayside all his life. He served in WW II with the North Shore Regiment in Canada, United Kingdom, and Continental Europe. He was employed for 30 years at the Radar Base at St. Margarets. He was a smelt fisherman, and loved antique cars. <br /> He is survived by his wife, Lillian [CRIPPS]; one son, John [Anne], of Red Bank; three daughters: Peggy [Rene] DURELLE, of Hardwicke, Colleen [Stephen] CRAIG, of Harvey, NB, Lillian [Keith] COMEAU, of Bayside; 12 grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.<br /> He was predeceased by a daughter, Patricia CLANCY, and was the last surviving member of his immediate family.<br /> The remains rested at Mahers Funeral Home, on Saturday evening from 7-9, and Sunday, from 2-4 and 7-9. Mass of Christian Burial was held on Monday, May 10, at 1 pm from St. Michaels By The Sea Roman Catholic Church, Bay du Vin, NB, with Fr. Claude Daigle officiating.<br /> Active pallbearers were: Donald MacDONALD, Randy MacDONALD, Keith COMEAU, Steve CRAIG, Andrew JOHNSTON, and Brian GARDINER. Honorary pallbearers were: Less CLARK, Stafford PETRIE, Donnie JIMMO, Reg MacDONALD, Ray MacDONALD, and Mark MacDONALD.<br /> Interment was in the church cemetery.
