Mrs. A. Susan MacDONALD, widow of James R. MacDONALD, of 60 Queen St., Chatham, died Tuesday, February 15 at Hotel Dieu Hospital after a brief illness. Born in Grey Rapids 87 years ago, she was a daughter of the late James and Mary [CURTIS] SULLIVAN. She was a member of the United Pentecostal Church.<br /> She is survived by four daughters: Mrs. Richard MacDONALD [Gertrude], Mrs. Clifford McLEOD [Lillian], Mrs. Sarah MacDONALD, all of Chatham, and Mrs. Henry HASSELMAN [Eva], of Saint John; two sons: Ralph, of Senneterre, Que., and Kenneth, of Bramalea, ON; one sister, Mrs. Moses CURTIS [May], of Fredericton; three brothers: Melbourne and Myles, both of Grey Rapids, and Louis, of Douglas; 29 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren.<br /> The body rested at Adams Funeral Home, Chatham where service was held Thursday afternoon, February 17 conducted by Rev. Irvine Calhoune assisted by Rev. R. J. Miller, Rev. Paul Hambrook and Rev. Ron Hanscom. Mrs. Heather Flieger was organist and hymns were: My Saviour, First of All and What A Friend. <br /> Pallbearers were: Murray MacDONALD, David NEWMAN, Alvin ARBEAU, Thomas TRAER, Fraser HOWE and Ernest FOWLIE.<br /> The body was placed in the vault at Black River Cemetery to await spring burial.<br /> Source: Northumberland News - February 23, 1983
