The death of Wilson R. LOGGIE, a widely-known resident of Loggieville, occurred on Tuesday evening at Hotel Dieu Hospital. Although in ill health for over a year, Mr. LOGGIE was able to be around and took an active part in community affairs. He was the son of the late John LOGGIE and Georgina GILLISS, Napan, and was born in Loggieville seventy-eight years ago. He was a successful farmer and operated the farm ?Brookside? in Loggieville which was started by his father. He was a member of L.O.L. Lodge and the Ancient Order of Foresters and was an elder of Knox United Church, Loggieville. <br /> His wife predeceased him eight years ago.<br /> He is survived by two children: Ethel, a music teacher in Amherst, NS; and son, J.D. LOGGIE; two brothers: Peter and Cyrus, of Loggieville; and two sisters: [Bertie] Mrs. John W. JOHNSON and [Katie] Mrs. William MANDERSON, both of Loggieville.<br /> The funeral was held Thursday afternoon with service at the house conducted by J.C. King of Loggieville and Rev. Mr. Woodside, Bathurst. The choir sang the hymns: The Lords My Shepherd, Forever with the Lord and Abide with Me.<br /> Honorary pallbearers were: Winfred DEALY, William ARCHER, William HIERLIHY, George W. LOGGIE, William Edge and James L. JOHNSTONE. Active pallbearers were: William LOGGIE, Harrison MURDOCH, Peter McLEAN, David KELLY, George SAVOY, and Clifford MURDOCH.<br /> There was a large number of floral tributes and messages of sympathy received by the family. Burial was made in Pine Grove Cemetery.<br /> Source: Chatham Gazette - June 12, 1951
