Friends of Edward A. HOYT, Riverside, were shocked to learn yesterday that he had died suddenly at the General Public Hospital, following an operation. Mr. HOYT was about as usual on Sunday, but was taken ill that evening. Monday afternoon a physician was called in and ordered the removal of the patient to the hospital. An operation was performed that night, but the patient failed to rally and passed away between 8 and 9 oclock yesterday morning.
He was formerly in the employ of Hall and Fairweather, Ltd., but for some years had been sales manager for Jones & Schofield. He was an active member of the Masonic fraternity and a past master of Albion Lodge.
He is survived by his wife; three sons, Harold, David and James; and one daughter, Elizabeth, all at home; his father, E.H. HOYT, postmaster at Andover; and two brothers, Fred, of Washington State, and Herbert D., of New York; and one sister, Miss Rose HOYT, of Andover.
[Mrs. HOYT was formerly Miss Nellie McKNIGHT, daughter of William McKNIGHT of Kouchibouguac, and has many friends on the Miramichi who will extend sympathy to her in her bereavement. Mrs. HOYT visited relatives in Napan and Bay du Vin, etc., during the summer.]
