The death of Mrs. Margaret Cecilia HITCHMAN, widow of William HITCHMAN, of Sargents Rd., Escuminac, NB, occurred suddenly Thursday, February 19, 2004 at Miramichi Regional Hospital. Born November 25, 1916, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Elizabeth [JIMMO] ONEILL. She was a homemaker, and a member of Golden Age Senior Citizens Club, Baie Ste-Anne, NB.
She is survived by one daughter, Gertrude DAIGLE [Flavien], of Miramichi; five sons: Edward [Vivian], of Lower Newcastle, James, of Sargents Rd., Robert [Margaret], of Miramichi, Billy Guy [Annette], of Sargents Rd., Harold [Mary], of Miramichi; two sisters, Anna ONEILL, of Moncton, Theresa McGUINNESS, of Saint John; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
She is predeceased by her parents; her husband; two sons: Jack and Bernie; two sisters: Mary and Helen; two brothers: Ray and Tom; and a half-sister, Hazel.
Rested at Ste. Annes Roman Catholic Church Slumber Room, Baie Ste-Anne, NB, with visiting Saturday and Sunday. Mass of Christian Burial celebrated Monday, February 23, from Ste. Annes Roman Catholic Church, at 11 a.m. with Father Fidele LeBlanc officiating. Father John Grattan was in the sanctuary. Music supplied by Mireille McIntyre. Soloist, Borden B. Davidson, rendered: How Great Thou Art and Amazing Grace. Other hymns: Mary Most Holy, I Have Loved You, Prend Mon Coeur, and Follow Me. Cross bearer was Kevin DAGLE. Church greeters were granddaughters: Beth HITCHMAN, Becky HITCHMAN, Debra HITCHMAN, and great-granddaughter, Melanie ROBICHAUD. Reader was niece, Iona JIMMO. Members of Golden Age Senior Citizens assembled in the church to form a guard of honor.
Active pallbearers were: William ONEILL, Aurelien ROBICHAUD, Eugene JIMMO, John ONEILL, Stewart WALSH, and Joseph McGUINNESS. Honorary pallbearers were: Mary WALSH, Delila LLOYD, Elda JENKINS, Ivy JIMMO, Thelma JIMMO, Alderick SAVOIE, Audrey ADAMS, and Kim THIBODEAU.
Burial will take place in Stella Maris Roman Catholic Cemetery, Escuminac, NB in the spring. Davidsons Funeral Service Ltd. was in care of arrangements
