Mrs. A. Christina HENRY, of 94 Henderson Street, Chatham, wife of Willard HENRY, died Friday at Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital, Fredericton after a lengthy illness. Born in LArcheveque, Cape Breton, she was a daughter of the late William and Annie [MATHESON] KEMP. She was a member of St. Andrews United Church, the Edith Bell Unit of the churchs UCW and a charter member, Past Worthy Matron, Prince Charles Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star.
Besides her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Frank MacLOON [Joyce], of Fredericton; one brother, Donald KEMP, of Grand River; five grandchildren, one great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews.
A son, Alan, died in 1964.
The body rested at Adams Funeral Home, Chatham where members and officers of Prince Charles Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star held a service on Sunday evening, under the direction of Worthy Matron Marion Trevors. Funeral service was held at St. Andrews United Church Monday afternoon, Aug. 6 conducted by Rev. Leslie McCurdy. Organist was William Sweezey and hymns were: The Lords My Shepherd and The King of Love My Shepherd Is. The members of the General UCW attended the service in a body.
Honorary pallbearers were: Edward FLANAGAN, Clinton A. HAYWARD, John CROSBIE, and Aubrey HITCHISON. Active pallbearers were: Ross MacKAY, Leonard ROBERTSON, Stuart MacKAY, Stephen HENRY, Peter MacLOON and Harold MacLEOD.
Interment was in Riverside Cemetery, Chatham. Arrangements were in the care of Adams Funeral Home, Chatham.
