The death of Robie Brown HANSCOM, husband of the late Jessie Evelyn [MacALLISTER] HANSCOM, of Saint John West, occurred peacefully at his residence on Wednesday, Jan. 1, 1997. Born in Flatlands, NB, he was the son of the late William and Lillian [KIERSTEAD] HANSCOM. During WW II, he served as a military court reporter throughout New Brunswick. He was employed with Irving Pulp and Paper for 36 years, retiring as traffic and sales manager. He was an active member of Main Street Baptist Church, serving on the board of management, the building committee, and was a teller, a Boy Scout leader, and was an avid fisherman and enjoyed gardening.<br /> He will be missed by his children: Wayne [wife Lois], of Hinsdale, Ill, Chicago, Linda [husband Fred GREEN], of Florenceville, Janis [husband Patrick LENIHAN], of Quispamsis; his sisters, Dorothy [Mrs. J. D. LOGGIE], of Newcastle, and Wanda [Mrs. Jack DOLAN], of Lethbridge, Alberta; his grandchildren: Taylor and Colin HANSCOM; Owen and Brian GREEN; Ross and Evan LENIHAN, and several cousins, nieces and nephews.<br /> He was predeceased by his brother, Sydney.<br /> The remains rested at Brenans Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row. Funeral services were held at Main Street, Baptist Church, Saint John. Interment will be in the Red Bank United Church Cemetery in the spring. Memorial donations to the Main Street Baptist Church Building fund or the N.B. Heart & Stroke Foundation would be appreciated by the family.<br /> Source: Miramichi Leader - January 7, 1997
