Robert [Bert] AHERN, of Nowlanville, died Wednesday, January 14, 1987, at Miramichi Hospital, Newcastle, after a lengthy illness. Born in Nowlanville 85 years ago, he was a son of the late John and Caroline (ENGLISH) AHERN. <br /> <br /> He is survived by his wife, the former Edna GALLANT; six sons: Leonard, of Ottawa, Brian, of Barnaby River, Warren, of Millerton, Ronald, of Chelmsford, John, of New Westminster, BC, and Michael, of Nowlanville: five daughters: Mrs. Paul Richard PERKINS (Clara), of Quebec, Mrs. Donald NOWLAN (Nancy), of Chatham, Mrs. Robert McLAREN ([Irene), of Ottawa, and Mrs. David LYNCH (Edna) and Mrs. Terrance REGAN (Linda), both of Nowlanville; a brother, George, of Moncton; three sisters: Mrs. Laura LESLIE, of Ferry Road, Mrs. Charles DOYLE Sr. (Mildred), of Craigville, and Mrs. Lillian WOODS, of Nowlanville; and 24 grandchildren.<br /> <br /> The body rested at Mahers Funeral Home, Chatham. Funeral mass was celebrated Friday morning, January 16, at St. Patricks Roman Catholic Church, Nelson-Miramichi with Rev. J.R. King, Rev. J.V. Smith, Rev. V.J. Donovan, Rev. B M. Broderick and Rev. J.L. Grattan officiating. <br /> <br /> The pallbearers were six sons: Michael, John, Ronald, Warren, Brian and Leonard AHERN.<br /> <br /> Burial will be in the church cemetery in the spring.<br /> <br /> Source: Northumberland News - January 21, 1987
