The death of Evelyn M. AHERN occurred at Moncton Hospital on Tues., March 27, 2001. Born in McAdam, NB on March 10, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Francis and Emily (COTE) CAREY, and wife of the late Louis J. AHERN. Evelyn graduated from Teachers College in Fredericton in 1939 and attended the University of NB and Mount Allison University. Evelyn taught school while raising her family in Saint John and Fredericton, and later worked as a Provincial Enforcement Officer for Family Court retiring in 1987. <br /> <br /> Survived by four daughters: Margaret WAYCOTT (Russell), of Port Hawkesbury, NS, Mary WHITE (Douglas), of Toronto, ON, Maureen AHERN (Steven HUGHES), of Orleans, ON, and Kathleen MALLEY (Terry), of Moncton, NB; one brother, Francis CAREY, of Moncton; one sister, Marion VANSTONE (Harry), of St. Stephen, NB; 9 grandchildren: Andrew, Carina, and Natalie WAYCOTT, Christopher and Elizabeth WHITE, Stacey and Lisa HUGHES, Myles and Kayla MALLEY; four nieces and two nephews. <br /> <br /> Predeceased by husband; and sister, Florence CAREY. <br /> <br /> Visitation will be held at McAdams Select Community Funeral Home, 160 York Street, Fredericton on Friday, March 30. Funeral mass celebrated at St. Dunstans Catholic Church, Fredericton on Sat., March 31 at 12:00 noon. Msgr Brian Henneberry VG will officiate.
