A. Irene GODFREY, wife of George A. GODFREY, died Thursday, May 19, 1988 at Miramichi Hospital, Newcastle after a short illness. Born in Little Branch 85 years ago, she was the daughter of the late Donald and Annie [MacMURRAY] MacNAUGHTON. She was a member of St. Stephens United Church Women and Black River Womens Institute. <br /> Besides her husband, she is survived by two sons: Donald, of Toronto, Edward, of Ottawa; two sisters: Dr. Katherine MacNAUGHTON, of Fredericton, and Mrs. Reinsford BATEMAN [Mabel], of Shediac; a brother, Ian MacNAUGHTON, of Black River Bridge; seven grandchildren; four great-randchildren; and several nieces and nephews.<br /> <br /> The body rested at Adams Funeral Home, Chatham. Funeral service held Sunday, May22nd at St. Stephens with Rev. Renford MacKenzie officiating. Members of the St. Stephens UCW attended in a body.<br /> <br /> Honorary pallbearers: MLA Reginald MacDONALD, Lawrence GIBSON, ELLIOTT CAIL, Elby DONNELLY, IVAN RAMSAY, Harold MacLEAN. Active pallbearers: John GODFREY, Murray & Vance MacNAUGHTON, GEORGE CAMPBELL, James MacKENZIE and LESLIE MATCHETT. <br /> <br /> Burial was in Black River Cemetery. <br /> <br /> Source: Northumberland News - May 25, 1988
