Thomas W. AHEARN, of 344 Queen St., Newcastle, died Monday, Jan. 14, 1985 at his residence. Born in Newcastle 72 years ago, he was a son of the late James and Jessie (GEIKIE) AHEARN. He was a retired employee of the New Brunswick Liquor Commission, a former member of the Newcastle Fire Department, a veteran of the Second World War serving overseas with the North Shore Regiment and a member of the Miramichi Branch 10 Royal Canadian Legion. He was a member of the United Church of Canada.<br /> <br /> He is survived by a sister, Mrs. Walter WHITE (Nellie), of Pinellas Park, Florida, and several nieces and nephews.<br /> <br /> The body rested at Adams Funeral Home, Newcastle. On Wednesday evening members of Newcastle Branch No. 10 Royal Canadian Legion held a memorial service at the funeral home under the direction of Rev. D. F. Hoddinott. The funeral was held Thursday afternoon, Jan. 17 at the funeral home chapel conducted by Rev. D. F. Hoddinott. Organist was Mrs. Gloria MacKay.<br /> <br /> Pallbearers were all members of Newcastle Fire Department: Chief David KEATING, Frank YOUNG, Roy GEIKIE, Lionel GIROUARD, Cecil MILLER and Gerald UNDERHILL.<br /> <br /> Burial will take place in Miramichi Cemetery in the spring. Arrangements were in the care of Adams Funeral Home, Newcastle.<br /> <br /> Source: Northumberland News - January 23, 1985
