Mr. Ernest Byron Williston FLIEGER, husband of Nettie FLIEGER, of Bryenton, passed away at the Miramichi Regional Hospital, Miramichi, on Friday, June 29, 2001, at the age of 86. Born in Escuminac, he was the son of the late Ernest F. and Isabelle [WILSON] FLIEGER. He was a former employee of both Irving Oil Ltd., as well as M.F. Esson & Sons Ltd. He was a member of the Derby United Church, and a veteran of WW II, serving in Canada with the RCAF. <br /> He is survived by his wife, the former Nettie DICKSON; three daughters: Thelma CORNEY [John], Isabelle PLEADWELL [Ivan], and Elizabeth [Libby] FLIEGER, all of Miramichi; two sons: Wilson [Kathy], of Miramichi, and Kenneth [Lolly], of Bryenton; 10 grandchildren; three foster children: Ernest, David and Diane WILLISTON, all of Miramichi; and several nieces and nephews.<br /> He was the last surviving member of his immediate family, being predeceased by four sisters: Mrs. Dorothy CAMERON, Miss Winnifred FLIEGER, Miss Lenore FLIEGER, and Miss Muriel FLIEGER; two brothers: Thomas and Charles FLIEGER.<br /> Visitation from Adams Funeral Home on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9. Funeral service held from the FH Chapel on Sat., June 30 at 2 pm conducted by Olive Ann Archibald, assisted by Rev. Murdo MacKay. Organist: Mrs. Janet Stothart; hymn: Beyond The Sunset. Interment was in Riverside Cemetery.<br /> Pallbearers were: Terry SOBEY, Rosalie LANDRY, Mary HARRIMAN, Michael FLIEGER, Herbert DICKSON, and Ivan PLEADWELL.<br /> Arrangements in care of Adams Funeral Home, 140 King St., Miramichi.
