Joseph Julien DURELLE, 64, of Pointe-Sapin, passed away at Moncton Hospital on Wed., January 28, 2004, after a long battle with cancer. Born in Baie Ste-Anne, NB, he was the son of the late Victor DURELLE and Julia [DUPLESSIS] DURELLE. He served with the Canadian Armed Forces for over 30 years in the Communications trade. He took part in Peace Missions in the Congo, Cyprus and in Egypt. Julien loved sport fishing and music. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch No. 7, Chatham. He was a member of the church choir, Pointe Sapin Golden Age Club and a member of Parish Committee and the Pointe Sapin Co-operative.
He is survived by his wife, Simonne [DAIGLE] DURELLE; six sisters: Lydia MacKAY [Ken], of Ottawa, ON, Eldora PERREAULT [Mark], of Ste. Marguerite, Geraldine GIONET, of Neguac, Victorine VAUTOUR [Placide], of St. Louis de Kent, Marie LeGRESLEY [Allard], of Neguac, Esther MAHONEY [Burton], of Russellville; 5 brothers: Albert [Melenda], of Neguac, Aurèle [Jeannette], of Ste. Marguerite, Jean-Baptiste [Ernestine], of Tracadie-Shelia, Victor [Thrèse], of Neguac, Marc, of Saint John.
He was predeceased by three brothers: Raymond, Leonard and Claude.
Resting at St. Joseph RC Church Slumber Room, Pointe Sapin, with visiting Thurs. from 7-9 pm, Fri. 2-4 and 7-9 pm and Sat. 9 am until time of funeral. Funeral Mass at St. Joseph RC Church on Sat., January 31, 2004 at 11 am. Interment in the parish cemetery in the spring.
