John B. DUPLESSIS, of Loggieville, died Saturday, November 12, 1983 at Dr. Georges Dumont Hospital, DVA Wing, Moncton. Born in Eel River Bridge 92 years ago, he was a son of the late John and Eleanor [MUZZEROLLE] DUPLESSIS. He was a veteran of both World Wars and a member of Chatham Branch 3 Royal Canadian Legion. He was a musician and took part in many of the entertainment shows in the Miramichi area.
He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Vincent BABINEAU [Josephine], of Loggieville, and Mrs. Adolph GOODIN [Theresa], of Chatham; one son, Raymond, of Rothesay, one sister, Mrs. Alvina MAY, of Saint John; two brothers: George and Hector, both of Eel River Bridge.
The body rested at Mahers Funeral Home, Chatham. Funeral mass was celebrated Monday morning, November 14 at St. Andrews Roman Catholic Church, Loggieville by Rev. R. Grattan.
Honorary pallbearers were: Edward MUISE, Pascal LeBELL, Raymond DURELLE, Leslie MANUEL, Ray BRACKEN and Ted DUPLESSIS. Active pallbearers were: Ray COOK, James KELLY, Fred DOUCETTE, Dearborn SAVOY, Lawrence DUPLESSIS and Frank COMEAU.
The Legion memorial service was conducted by Charles Savoy, president of Chatham Branch No. 3 Royal Canadian Legion. The Last Post was sounded. Burial was in the parish cemetery. Arrangements were in the care of Mahers Funeral Home, Chatham.
