Mrs. Marie ARSENAULT, widow of Damase ARSENAULT, of Baie Ste. Anne, died at her home Wednesday, January 18, 1984 following a lengthy illness. Born in Magdalene Islands 92 years ago, she was a daughter of the late Hippolyte and Christine [BOURQUE] THERIAULT. She was a school teacher and had studied at the C.N.D. Convent at St. Louis de Kent. She was a graduate of the Teachers College, Fredericton, and was one of the first French teachers in Baie Ste. Anne. She was also a member of the Golden Age Club.
She is survived by four sons: Omer, Claude, Adelon, all of Baie Ste. Anne, and Otis, of Vancouver; two daughters: Georgette and Mrs. Donat SAVOIE [Blandine], both of Baie Ste. Anne; one adopted daughter, Jeanne SAVOIE, of Baie Ste. Anne; two brothers: Edmour, Villa Providence, Shediac, and Isaac, of Baie Ste. Anne; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
The body rested at the slumber room of the Baie Ste. Anne Roman Catholic Church. Funeral mass was celebrated Saturday afternoon, January 21 at the church by Rev. A Arsenault.
Honorary pallbearers were: Nectare, Ade, Norbert and Elphege THERIAULT, Normand SCHOFIELD and Fred RICHARD. Active pallbearers were: Fred and Oswald SAVOIE, Roland and Marc THERIAULT, Jacques DAIGLE and Wilmond TURBIDE.
Entombment was in the church parish vault to await a spring burial. Arrangements were in the care of Mahers Funeral Home, Chatham.
