Mildred Iva ADAMS, widow of the late Thomas I. ADAMS, of the Mount St. Joseph Nursing Home, and formerly of Black River Bridge, passed away at her residence on Thursday, March 6, 2008, at the age of 93. Born in Black River Bridge on January 6, 1915, she was the daughter of the late Hugh and Christiana S. (GODFREY) MacDOUGALL. She was a homemaker and a member of St. Stephens United Church, Black River Bridge; a life member of the U.C.W. as well as a life member of the Womens Institute of Black River Bridge; a member of the Black River Senior Citizens Club.
She is survived by three daughters: Doris TAYLOR (Dawson), of Black River Bridge, Vera JAMES (David), of Miramichi, and Della O'NEILL (John), of Black River Bridge; ten grandchildren: Darren, Rhonda, Shirley, Charlene, Rachel, Rory, Tina, Rodi, Charla, Linda Lee; four great-grandchildren: Hannah, Regan, Chase, Ava; as well as several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband in 1993; one son, Wilfred ADAMS; four brothers: John Godfrey, Fred, James and Robert MacDOUGALL.
Visiting was held at the funeral home on Friday. The funeral service was held from St. Stephens United Church, Black River Bridge, on Saturday, March 8, 2008, conducted by Rev. David Cleveland. The organist was Mrs. June Ross and the hymns were: In The Bulb There Is A Flower, Unto The Hills and We Shall Go Out With Hope Of Resurrection.
The honorary pallbearers were members of the U.C.W. units of St. Stephens United Church. The active pallbearers were: Hugh GODFREY, Ken ADAMS, Dick MacDOUGALL, Darren TAYLOR, Don LAMKEY, Mark TSISTINAS.
Interment will be in the Black River Community Cemetery, later in the spring. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Adams Funeral Home Ltd., 140 King St., Miramichi, telephone 773-3492 www.adamsfh.ca
