It is with heavy hearts that the family of Donna Marie DICKSON YEAMAN announces her passing on October 08, 2023, after a short battle with cancer. Donna was born in Oakville, Ontario on September 10, 1965, to John Oland DICKSON and Elaine Margaret (MacKNIGHT) DICKSON and she had two siblings: Brenda, and Jeffery. Her family moved from Oakville, Ontario to Port Elgin, New Brunswick, in 1975 where her parents were proprietors of a Stedman’s Store. In 1981, she moved to Nanaimo, British Columbia, and there, she graduated from high school in 1982. On May 02, 1989, Donna was blessed with a daughter, Billie-Anne YEAMAN, who now resides in Sault St. Marie, Ontario. Along with Billie-Anne, she was blessed with a chosen young man, Ryan MOEN, who she referred to as “son”. <br /> <br /> Although Donna moved from coast to coast, she fell in love with the Pacific Ocean and spent much of her adult life in Nanaimo. Donna was a hard worker and learned the skill of being an entrepreneur from her parents as she ran her own paint business, A Lady’s Touch, for over a decade. Although she had many satisfied clients, one of her most bragged about gig was painting the helicopter that was featured in Fifty Shades of Grey. If she wasn’t painting buildings, she could be found painting sailboats at the Nanaimo Harbour. Along with her busy painting business, she was also a crab fisherwoman and loved to share stories of being on the water. <br /> <br /> Donna was an avid volunteer and gave plenty of her time to various organizations, including being an active member of the Legion Branch #256 where she expressed had the greatest team on the rock, helping at local fall fairs, etc. <br /> <br /> The family wants to express their deep appreciation and thanks to the members of the Royal Canadian Legion Mt. Benson Branch #256 (especially the Stuart and MacKenzie families) members, the medical staff at the Nanaimo Hospital, the medical staff at the Victoria Royal Jubilee Hospital for their professionalism and kindness. As well, appreciation goes out to Donna’s BC family members who stepped up during her time of need from hosting, driving, and everything in between. <br /> Donna loved the ocean, loved sailing, and loved life and she will be sorely missed. In her words, “Until further notice, celebrate everything!” <br /> <br /> In Donna’s memory, donations may be made to the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #2561630 E Wellington Rd, Nanaimo, BC or to a memorial of one’s choice. <br /> <br /> Source: Ann Moriarty
