It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Stephen Alan WORRELL of Miramichi on July 25, 2022, following a brief illness. Born February 02, 1958, in Bathurst, NB, Stephen was the son of Leila (SCOTT) Worrell and the late George Robert (Bob) WORRELL of Miramichi. <br /> <br /> Stephen was the beloved husband of Alison (AHERN) WORRELL; and the devoted father of Kalli WORRELL, and Jack WORRELL, both at home. Besides his wife, children and mother, Stephen will be sadly missed by his sister, Sherry OSMUN (Wayne) of Miramichi; brother, Jim WORRELL of Edmonton; mother-in-law, Mary Alice (DRILLEN) AHERN; sister-in-law, Megan SULLIVAN (Nicholas); and brother-in-law, Ryan AHERN (Kathy), all of Miramichi. Steve was forever proud of his nieces and nephews who will miss him always: Susie AHERN, and Evan AHERN of Miramichi, Ashley (OSMUN) O’MALLEY (Conor) of Newbridge, Ireland, and Donald OSMUN (Sarah) and their sons William and Edward OSMUN of Medicine Hat, Alberta. <br /> <br /> As well as his father, Bob, Steve was predeceased by his best friend and father-in-law, Warren AHERN.<br /> <br /> Stephen was a devoted husband and father, having been a stay-at-home Dad since his children were young. He loved camping with his family at Sunrise Campground and was happiest when surrounded by family, friends, and his faithful dogs. Stephen also loved listening to music, and was immensely proud of the musical accomplishments of Kalli (guitar), and Jack (drums). Fondly referred to as “Mr. Google,” he could find the “how to” solution for anything from tuning a guitar to keeping appliances, vehicles, or lawn mowers up and running. Steve loved children and they loved him and he was also known as “Papa” to a few very special kids whom he loved dearly and will continue to watch over. <br /> <br /> A remarkable man, Stephen knew how precious life is and lived intentionally with love, generosity, and purpose. At the age of 33, Steve received a heart transplant thanks to the incredible generosity of an organ donor. It is our understanding that at the time of Steve’s passing, he may have been the longest surviving heart transplant recipient in Canada. His donor heart was strong and healthy to the end. This life-saving gift allowed him to live a full and meaningful life for an additional 31 years which is something he never took for granted. This world is a more beautiful place because of this gift of life, and the family and friends Steve loved. The family hopes that each person will take this moment to seriously consider the preciousness of life and the benefits of organ donation to save and improve the lives of others.<br /> <br /> A memorial service for Steve will be announced at a later date. <br /> <br /> Donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of New Brunswick or the Canadian Cancer Society.
