Eloie Joseph DURELLE, husband of Thelma (MARTIN) DURELLE of Miramichi and formerly of Baie-Sainte-Anne, NB, passed away at Losier Hall, Shannex on May 19, 2024, at the age of 92. Born in Baie-Sainte-Anne, NB, on August 31, 1931, he was the son of the late Ernest and Alida (ROBICHAUD) DURELLE. Eloie was a Veteran for 40 years having served in the Military with the Armed Forces. He loved being in the water fishing, and also gardening and doing anything and everything to do with the outdoors. He was a true family man and loved his family with everything he had and was a caretaker to all including his extended family. He was a member of Saint Anne’s Catholic Church in Baie-Sainte-Anne, and Branch #3 Royal Canadian Legion in Chatham.
Eloie is survived by his wife of 75 years, Thelma (MARTIN) DURELLE; two daughters, Darlene DOUCETTE (late Maxime) and Shirley TURBIDE (Antonio), all of Baie-Sainte-Anne; one son, Steven DURELLE of Baie-Sainte-Anne; son-in-law, Cliff McLAUGHLIN of Albert; five grandchildren: Dominque, Rachel, Sophie, Brandon and Jessie; numerous great-grandchildren; one sister, Lucille O’DONNELL of Montreal; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He was predeceased by his parents; daughter, Norma McLAUGHLIN; brothers: Yvonne, Allyre, Ernest and Placide DURELLE; as well as sisters, Corrine DURELLE, Pat FLEIGER and Helen MacINTYRE.
As per Eloie's wishes, there will be no Visitation or Funeral Mass held at this time. Interment will be in the Hardwicke Catholic Cemetery at a later date.
As expressions of sympathy, donations to Percy’s Place would be appreciated by the family.
