Donald Kenneth ADAMS of Sickles St. in Miramichi, passed away at his residence on December 23, 2023. His wife and life partner, Kim O’BRIEN was with him. Donnie was afflicted with MS and died as a result of his illness. Donnie was originally from Little Branch. He was the youngest boy in a large family. He went to work right out of high school beginning at McCarthy's garage. Later he worked for his brother Art at Chatham Auto Body. He loved his work there and the people he met. Donnie was a Licensed Mechanic and helped many people on weekends. That is where he
met Kim when she brought her car in to be fixed. That was over 25 years ago.
In recent years he was unable to work due to the MS. This was extremely difficult for him. He was able to fix lawn mowers and other small engines in the garage. Every day he would take his dog Rookie and they would spend the day out there, working, sometimes friends stopped by. A few beverages were consumed. Donnie was kind and generous of himself and his time. He liked everyone. If you knew him, you were lucky. I will miss my partner more than words can express. My comfort is knowing that he is with our Lord and Savior and his pain is over. Those friends who stood steadfast by him were Norman MALLEY, Colin MANUEL, Perley JARDINE, and a few others. Thank you for always being his friend. He treasured your friendship.
Donnie is survived by his life partner, Kimberley O’BRIEN; step-son, Eric O’BRIEN; and best friend, Rookie, He leaves behind his siblings: Eunice WILCOX (Tom) of Winnipeg, Minnie SIMPSON of Miramichi, Hilda RACCO (Ray) of Saint John, Marguerite BARRY (The Reverend Robert Barry) of Bay Du Vin, Norma MUTCH (Scott) of Miramichi, Pauline ADAMS of Miramichi, Arthur (Lylla) of Napan, Dennis of Little Branch and Brian (Davida) of Miramichi; and sister-in-law, Ann CRAIG.
Let's be kind to each other. We can't change the world but we can change how we act in it.
At Donald’s request there will be no visitation. A funeral service will be held at Adams Funeral Home Chapel, 140 King St., Miramichi on Friday, December 29, 2023, at 2 pm, with Pastor Victor Somers officiating. Interment will be in the Black River Community Cemetery later in the spring.
As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Miramichi SPCA, or a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family. Arrangements are entrusted to Adams Funeral Home Ltd., 140 King St., Miramichi, NB; telephone (506) 773-3492. www.adamsfh.ca
