It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Arilda MERCURE. She passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont University Hospital Centre on Friday, September 15, 2023, at the age of 89. Born in Baie-Sainte-Anne, NB, she was the daughter of the late Frederick “Fred” and the late Elizabeth MANUEL (DAIGLE).
Arilda will be sadly missed by her children: Noëlla (Doug), Jacqueline (François), Jean-Paul (Kim), Ernestine, Roger, Gérard (Lynn), Antoinette (Claude), Rosaire (Kathleen), Elisa (Sylvain) and Marcel (Beverly); her siblings: Gérard (Gabrielle), Antoine, Patrice (Diane), Lorraine (Rosimond), Carmella (Richard) and Corinne (Howard); her 13 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; her daughter-in-law, Jeannette; also by several cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her children: Ovila (Louise), Robert, Maria (baby) and Joseph (baby); her brothers: Edgar, Joseph, Albert, Edmond and Bertin; her sister, Eliza (young child); also by her granddaughter, Colette.
Arilda will be remembered as a woman of strong character, generous, courageous and determined. Woman of great faith who prayed a lot. She loved spending time with her family and especially with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, whom she cherished. Her hobbies included quilting, knitting, bowling, bingo, cards and dancing.
Visitations will be held at Passage-Chartersville, 363 Amirault, Dieppe, NB (506) 857-1901, on Thursday, September 21, 2023 from 2 pm to 4 pm and from 5:30 pm to 7:15 pm. A celebration of her life will follow in the Chapel at 7:30 pm.
There will be visitation as well the next day on Friday, September 22, 2023 at Soeur Blandine-Martin Slumber room, located in the basement of Ste-Anne RC Church, 5353 NB-117 in Baie-Sainte-Anne, NB E9A 1E4 from 2 pm to 4 pm.
