Miramichi communities were saddened by the disappearance on October 29, 1975 of Addison Leslie FOWLIE, of Little Branch. Born at Little Branch August 17, 1894, he was a son of the late George and Christina (FOWLIE) FOWLIE.
Left to mourn his loss is his wife, the former Jessie K. MacLEAN, whom he married in 1922; a brother, Samuel, of Little Branch; a sister, Mrs. Perley GILLIS (Jean), of Point aux Carr; several nieces and nephews.
An older brother, John, died six years ago.
Except for a failing memory, Mr. FOWLIE was in excellent health and enjoyed daily walks near his home. He was of amiable disposition, always patient and cheerful, taking loving care of his home and garden. Mr. FOWLIE was an adherent of St. Stephen’s United Church and a willing worker in both church and community affairs. He had many friends and was a kind and considerate neighbor. In his younger years, he worked in the flour mill operated by his father and later at the FOWLIE sawmill at Little Branch.
Heartfelt sympathy is extended to his wife in her bereavement.

MEMORIAL SERVICE FOR ADDISON FOWLIE
A memorial service was held in memory of Addison Leslie FOWLIE on Sunday, July 04 1976, at his residence in Little Branch.
Mr. FOWLIE, who disappeared on October 29, 1975, was 82 years of age. Consistent searching throughout the autumn failed to reveal his whereabouts. The search was resumed in May of this year but proved equally futile.
Left to mourn their loss is his wife, Jessie (MacLEAN) FOWLIE; one brother, Samuel, Little Branch; one sister, Jean (Mrs. Perley GILLIS), Pt. aux Carr; and a number of nieces and nephews.
The service was conducted by Rev. Henry Boston who spoke of Mr. FOWLIE’s life and passing with kindly words of comfort. Mrs. William FOWLIE was organist and accompanied the singing of the hymns: Unto the Hills Around Do I Lift Up and Jesus, Lover of my Soul. St. Stephen’s male quartet, Everard and Ernest MacLean, Theodore and Edgar Fowlie sang: Have Thine Own Way, Lord.
Close friends and relatives from as far away as Saint John, attended the service by invitation.
Mrs. FOWLIE, a patient in Hotel Dieu Hospital, was able to spend the afternoon at her home and attend the service, later returning to hospital.
