With celebration of a life well lived, we the family, announce the passing of Bernard ALLAIN (Bernie) partner of Alice VICKERS of Bathurst, NB, which occurred on Monday, August 31, 2020 at the Chaleur Regional Hospital at the age of 69. Born in Neguac, NB, the son of Zoël and Amanda (DOIRON) ALLAIN.
Bernie is survived by one daughter, Dianna ALLAIN (Daniel) of Saint John; one son, Danny ALLAIN (Melissa) of Halifax; one step-son, Burns HOLLAND (Aimee) of Regina; four grandsons: Connor, Judea, Cody and Jacob; three granddaughters, Darrah, Rhythm and Emma; four brothers: Norbert ALLAIN (Camela) of Neguac, Raymond ALLAIN (Shirley) of Bathurst, Normand ALLAIN (Rachel) of Neguac and Livain ALLAIN (Louisa) of Fairisle; five sisters: Leola LAVIGNE (Walter-deceased) of Bathurst, Diane ALLAIN (Leo-Paul) of Neguac, Denise FERGUSON (Philippe) of Tracadie, Raymonde LECLAIR (Roland) of Neguac and Leonida SAVOIE of Neguac; one uncle, Jean (John) RICHARDSON (Leda) of Bathurst; two aunts, Isabelle BREAU of Neguac and Beatrice DOIRON of Bas-Caraquet; the mother of his children, Gail ONEIL ALLAIN of Halifax and many nieces and nephews.
Bernie is predeceased by his parents, Zoel and Amanda ALLAIN; his sister, Andrea ALLAIN; and step-son, Joshua HOLLAND.
Bernie dedicated 46 years of service to the Bathurst Police Force, beginning as a patrol officer and moving up through the ranks to eventually hold the position of Deputy Chief of Police until his retirement in 2015. Bernie was well regarded by his peers and the communities he served, receiving the police exemplary service medal in 1989. Bernie was an avid runner and sports fan and enjoyed traveling around North America to watch his favorite baseball and hockey teams.
There will be no visitation. A private memorial service for family will be held Tuesday, September 08, 2020 at the Holy Family Catholic Church. Arrangements are in the care of Elhatton Funeral Home Ltd. 187 Saint George St., Bathurst, NB (www.elhatton.com). In memory of Bernie, donations can be made to Badge of Life Canada www.badgeoflifecanada.org
