It is with deepest regret that we record the death in England of Mrs. William AITKEN, widow of the late Rev. William AITKEN of Newcastle, NB, and Maple, ON, news if which was contained in a cable message received by R. T. D. AITKEN and Dr. AITKEN on last Friday. Mrs. AITKEN had apparently been in good health and her death was unexpected. She had been arranging to leave for a visit with her daughter, Mrs. RAMSAY, at Bowlandstow, near Edinburgh, Scotland.<br /> <br /> Deceased was about 80 years of age. Before her marriage, she was Miss Jane NOBLE of Nobleton Manor, Maple, ON. Her husband, predeceased her 14 years ago, his death taking place here on Dec. 13, 1913.<br /> <br /> She is survived by nine children: R. T. D. AITKEN, barrister at Newcastle, NB, Mrs. WALKER of Los Angeles, Miss Annie AITKEN of London, England, J. Mons AITKEN of Toronto, ON. Lord Beaverbrook of London, England, Mrs. STICKNEY of Montreal, Dr. Arthur AITKEN of St. Kitts, now visiting his home in Newcastle, Allen A. AITKEN of Montreal and Mrs. D. RAMSAY of Scotland; and 13 grandchildren.<br /> <br /> Mrs. AITKEN had been residing in England and France the last four years, accompanied by her daughter, Annie and two grandchildren, Jean and Katherine. Mrs. AITKEN came to Newcastle with her husband in 1880 and had made her home here until her last visit overseas.<br /> <br /> The funeral service was held Monday afternoon at 2:30 o’clock in Bowlandstow, Scotland. It is expected that the remains will be brought to Newcastle for interment beside those of her husband. Sincere sympathy is extended the bereaved family in their great loss.<br /> <br /> Source North Shore Leader - August 12, 1927
