It is with heavy hearts that we announce the death of Shirley ADAMS of Moncton, NB, on November 23, 2021 at the Moncton Hospital. Born on May 23, 1937, in Whitneyville, NB, she was the daughter of the late Thomas A. and Bertha J. (MacTAVISH) SHERRARD.
She was predeceased by her husband, Leonard, in 2005.
She is survived by her children: Sandra (Andy) FOUGERE of Nepean, ON, Lenley (Carolyn) of Charlottetown, PEI, Stephen of Halifax, NS, and Bruce (Luiz) of Oakland, CA; grandchildren: Elsa (Kyle) DRISDELLE, Alec FOUGERE, Meghan and Olivia ADAMS; great-grandson, Charlie Beau DRISDELLE; brother, Hubert SHERRARD; and sisters-in-law, Shirley and Doris SHERRARD. She was also predeceased by brothers, Edward and Gordon; and sister, Myrna.
She was fortunate to have the support of close friend, Freda as well her other friends and neighbours.
Shirley received her diploma from the Miramichi Hospital School of Nursing and worked for several years before marrying Leonard and then raising their four children. She was very active in their educational and sporting activities spending countless hours in arenas and at ball-fields, maintaining the backyard rink and playing baseball in the yard. She had a passion for sports, in particular hockey, baseball, curling and tennis. Shirley was a longstanding member of Mountain View United Church.
Donations may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association or charity of choice.
In respect of Shirley’s wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral service but there will be a private family gathering at a later date.
