Lillian Dorothy Dalton ADAMS (SEARS). Our beloved mother "slipped the surly bonds of earth" on October 22, 2018 surrounded by those who loved her and cared for her. Born in Boston, Massachusetts on June 01, 1930 to Maurice Otis and Beatrice Maud SEARS, she spent her first 18 years there, graduating from Boston's High School of Practical Arts in 1948. On June 11, 1948 she married Alfred Reginald (Reg) DALTON of Springdale, NS and came to Nova Scotia where she lived most her life except the last 7 years, which she spent in her apartment in Miramichi, New Brunswick. In 1994, she was married for a second time to John "Jack" ADAMS and they spent twelve travel-filled and fun-filled years together before his passing in 2006. After we were in school, Mom went to work in Yarmouth in retail children's clothing. Following this she was, for many years, a valued case worker for Family and Children's Services in Yarmouth, NS. Her church was important to her and she spent some years as Church Treasurer at Port Maitland Wesleyan. She read and studied the Bible and knew its lessons well. Her personal Bible is dog-eared and worn from its years of regular use. She had many interests, chief amongst which was being a mom to her three daughters. She loved to read and we have all inherited this veracious appetite to read. She loved to play games and played to win. She loved to travel and managed to do lots of tours with her sister in the US, as well as travels to Mexico, Puerto Rico, New York as well as many other places. She had an inquisitive and sharp mind. She loved nice clothes and shoes earning her the nickname "Diamond Lil" which she loved. Mom always saw the glass half-filled. Despite her many health issues, including her disability caused in a car accident in her 40s, and in later years - other critical illnesses, she never complained and never worried. She always chastised us when we worried saying that worry was a waste of energy and quoting from Matthew 6:25 "who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life?" She was a mother, a friend, a mentor and a wise advisor who taught us so many lessons but most of all how to be good people. She had many friends and made them even until her end. She was deservedly loved.<br /> <br /> She was pre-deceased by her mother, father, younger sister, Eleanor, and her husbands, Reginald and Jack. <br /> <br /> Left to celebrate her life are daughters Diana Lee DALTON (Dartmouth), Deborah Mae CHURCHILL (Miramichi) and Eleanor Ruth DALTON BLAUVELT (South Ohio, Yarmouth); her beloved sons-in-law, Gary CHURCHILL and Paul BLAUVELT; and her grandchildren: Christopher CHURCHILL, Peter CHURCHILL, Matthew BLAUVELT and Janessa BLAUVELT; and five great-grandchildren: Justin, Hayden, Damien, Lily and Dyson; and her granddaughters, Shelley MEISNER, Halifax, Juanita TREMBLAY of Williamstown, NB and Emily KOZAK, Finland.<br /> <br /> We say goodbye to a special person, a lover of life, a great lady, and a wonderful wife and mother. As it is said in Proverbs 31:28-29: "Her children arise and call her blessed: her husband also, and he praises her: Many women do noble things, but you surpass them all." A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 27, 2018 at Port Maitland Wesleyan Church, Port Maitland, Yarmouth County, Nova Scotia at 2 pm. Committal and internment at Cedar Lake Cemetery, Cedar Lake, Nova Scotia on Saturday, October 27, 2018 at 3:30 pm.
