Hyacinthe DOUCET, of Baie Ste. Anne, died Thursday, June 16, 1988, at Hotel Dieu Hospital, Chatham. Born in Baie Ste. Anne 76 years ago, he was a son of the late Maxime and Margaret (JENKINS) DOUCET. He was a carpenter and a fisherman. A veteran of the Second World War, he served overseas with the North Shore (NB) Regiment.
He is survived by his wife, the former Annie SAVOIE; three sons, Roger, Jean-Roc and David, all of Bathurst; seven daughters: Jeannie at home, Elsie, Sylvia, Mrs. Michael LLOYD (Mariette) and Mrs. Rolande DEVEAU, all of Bathurst, Mrs. Gary MARTIN (Sandra) of Baie Ste. Anne and Mrs. Camille DALESSIO (Armande) of Newcastle; five brothers: Jack, Delsworth, Francis and Lawson, all of Baie Ste. Anne and Everett of Campbellton; three sisters, Mrs. Eldric LLOYD (Florence) of Escuminac, Mrs. Helen JENKINS of Chatham and Mrs. Jennie AUBIE of Hardwick.
The body rested at Baie Ste. Anne Roman Catholic Church, where funeral mass was celebrated Saturday afternoon, June 18th, with Rev. Guy Legere officiating, assisted by Rev. Kenneth Weir. War veterans formed a Guard of Honor at the church and placed poppies in the casket.
Honorary pallbearers were: Armand SAVOIE, Yvon and Irvine DURELLE, Alphonse, Kenneth and Ace DOUCET. Active pallbearers were: Ronnie, Maxime, Searl, Leo and Marc DOUCET and Ade SAVOIE.
Interment was in the parish cemetery. Arrangements were in the care of Maher’s Funeral Home, Chatham.
