George Joseph Leo ALLAIN, husband of Myrtle (HARRIS) ALLAIN of Newcastle, NB, occurred at his residence on Monday, January 12, 2015, at the age of 55. Born in Newcastle, NB, George was the son of the late Edgar and Rose Anne (St. COEUR) ALLAIN. George was the custodian at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, member of the Father Dixon Council No. 4886 Knights of Columbus, St. Mary’s Folk Choir and was a very active member of St. Mary’s Parish. George also was an avid musician who devoted his time for numerous benefits.<br /> <br /> George is survived by one son, Michael (Brian) of Moncton, NB; one sister, Lorraine GABEL of Moose Jaw, SK; one brother, Albert (June) of Newcastle, NB; several nieces and nephews.<br /> <br /> Besides his parents, George is predeceased by one sister, Leona NORTON; and two brothers, Leo and James.<br /> <br /> Visitation was held at Bell’s Funeral Home on Wednesday, from 7-9 and Thursday, from 2-4 & 7-9. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated from St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church on Friday evening at 6 pm with Fr. Tom Fowler officiating, assisted by Fr. Vincent Donovan. Music was by St. Mary’s Folk Choir. Solo: The River, by Gerald DOIRON and solo: Trials and Tribulations (written by George), by Paula FOLEY. Readers were Jeannette ALLAIN and Laura ALLAIN, with Prayers of the Faithful by read by Shirley FALCONER, and Words of Remembrance by Susan BUTLER. <br /> <br /> Active pallbearers were: Michael ALLAIN, Albert ALLAIN, Chris ALLAIN, Jimmy ALLAIN, Donald ATWIN and Bill HARRIS. Honorary pallbearers were: Billy HACHEY, Ross WILSON, Gene SOMERS, Mike MacKENZIE, Shirley DUFFY, Johnny MANDERVILLE, Todd JARDINE, Amy JARDINE, Stephen LYNCH, Hedley DOAK, Arnold McINTYRE and Jason HARRIS. <br /> <br /> Burial will take place in St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Cemetery at a later date. Donations may be made to St. Mary’s Restoration Fund, NB Extra Mural Program, Miramichi Regional Hospital Oncology Department, Breakfast Program at Harkins or St. Mary’s Folk Choir.
