Mrs. Zillah Marie SUTHERLAND of Doaktown, widow of Claude C. SUTHERLAND died Monday, October 27, 1986 at her residence after a lengthy illness. Born in Doaktown 86 years ago, she was a daughter of the late Samuel D. and Hester (MacKINNON) BETTS. A retired school teacher and Sunday school teacher, she was a former member of Doaktown United Baptist Church. She was also a member of the Women’s Missionary Society and the Doaktown Senior Citizens Club.<br /> <br /> She is survived by six daughters: Mrs. Boyd O’DONNELL (Marjorie) and Mrs. Gracie JOHNSTON, both of Doaktown, Mrs. Eddie COLPITTS (Bessie) of Petitcodiac, Mrs. Angus BAGLEY (Esther) of Massachusetts, Mrs. Gerald CRANE (Rhona) of Toronto and Mrs. David ROY (Shirley) of Waterville, NS; two sons, Walter of Fredericton and Cecil of Moncton; three brothers, Ulmer and Javed, both of Vancouver and Wallace of Port McNeil, BC; 23 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. <br /> <br /> The body rested at the United Baptist Church, Doaktown where funeral service was held Thursday afternoon, October 30th with Rev. Jonathan Gorham officiating. Organist, Karen Storey assisted the church choir with the hymns: What A Friend We Have in Jesus and Jewels. <br /> <br /> Pallbearers were: Wes MUNN, Sterling BETTS, Arthur ROBINSON Jr., Duncan MUNN, Arthur ROBINSON Sr. and Keith ROBINSON.<br /> <br /> Interment was in the church cemetery. Arrangements were in the care of Adam’s Funeral Home, Newcastle.<br /> <br /> Source: Northumberland News - November 05, 1986 <br />
