Joseph Harold YOUNG, husband of Leola M. YOUNG, of Heritage Road, Miramichi, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 26, 2014, surrounded by his close family at the age of 86. Born in Caraquet, NB, on May 28, 1928, he was the son of the late Frederick C. and Janet (MacLEAN) YOUNG. One of ten children, Harold was the Valedictorian and last living graduate of his 1946 High School class. He went on to St John Modern Business College and at the age of 60, he enrolled at Concordia University to complete his Bachelors Degree in Political Science. A self taught pianist since the age of 5, Harold resided in Montreal for over forty years playing events and fund raising for charitable organizations such as Sun Youth. His love of travel brought him work from all over the world, including Resolute Bay for NORAD. Having both his father Frederick C. YOUNG and his grandfather, Frederick T. B. YOUNG hold past seats as members of the Legislative Assembly, Harold may be best known for his knowledge of and advice towards current and past political events.
He is survived by his wife, the former Leola M. WARD; two daughters, Gail L. YOUNG, of Isle Perriot, Que. and Tracy A. YOUNG, of Miramichi; two grandchildren, Nathan and Amber; three sisters, Muriel TURNBULL, of Niagara Falls, ON, Marjorie PAUL (Dave), of Surrey, BC and Elizabeth ROBERTS, of Campbellton; one brother, Frederick YOUNG, of Caraquet.
By his request there will be no visiting at the funeral home. A private graveside service will be held at the Caraquet United Church Cemetery, at a later date. Donations to any charity of the donors’ choice would be appreciated by the family. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Adam’s Funeral Home Ltd., 140 King St., Miramichi, telephone 773-3492 or www.adamsfh.ca
