Mr. James CHIASSON, of Escuminac, NB, passed peacefully at home on Monday, May 25th surrounded by all his family. He is now resting peacefully in the loving arms of Jesus and is now singing joyfully with all his old pals. Born in Chatham, NB on June 13, 1925, the son of the late James and Elise [DURELLE] CHIASSON. James worked as a truck driver for 48 years and really retired at the age of 75 from trucking. He was known to his trucker friends as Diamond Jim. James was a devoted Montreal Canadians Fan. <br /> He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Gertrude CHIASSON; daughters, Martine [Alphonse] MAZEROLLE and Angelina CATALANO; son, Jacques [Jake] CHIASSON; four grandchildren: Tim [Joanie] CHIASSON, Ryette [Jamie] MAZEROLLE, Paul [Sophie] and Christopher [Marie] CATALANO; two great-grandchildren, Sebastien HANCOCK and Nicolas CATALANO; and one sister, Annie RICHARD; several nieces and nephews. <br /> He is predeceased by three sisters, Evelyn, Alice and Molly; son-in-law, Nick CATALANO. <br /> Mr. James CHIASSON rested at the Baie Ste-Anne Slumberoom in Baie Ste Anne on Thursday, May 28th from 7 to 9 and on Friday, May 29th from 2 until time of the funeral. Memorial service was held on Friday, May 29th at 4pm from St. Anne Church in Baie Ste-Anne with Fr. Fidele LeBlanc officiating. <br /> Honorary pallbearers were: Emile MARTIN, Jean Claude RICHARD, Victor DURELLE, Edgar MARTIN, Henri MARTIN, Donald DURELLE, Paul Emile RICHARD, Sylvio RICHARD and Stan MARTIN.<br /> Interment was in Stella Maris Cemetery, Escuminac, NB. Funeral arrangements are under the care of Mahers Funeral Home, Miramichi, NB. Telephone 773-4321. <br /> Source: Miramichi Leader - June 01, 2009
