DIES IN SHOOTING INCIDENT SATURDAY -
Thirty-seven-year-old Wayne Kenneth ALLISON, of Boom Road, is dead following a shooting incident. Newcastle RCMP say he died of a gunshot wound at 12 am Saturday. His body was found at the residence of Albert SAVOY, Curtis Road, Whitneyville.
Coroner Thomas Gallivan of Newcastle has ordered an autopsy but no decision has been made as to an inquest pending the outcome of the police investigation.
Newcastle Staff Sergeant Dale Swansburg said Mr. ALLISON died from a single gunshot wound to the chest area. Death was believed to be instantaneous. A firearm was found on the scene with the discovery of the body. RCMP would not state if foul play was suspected. As yet, no arrests have been made.
WITH FORESTRY -
Mr. ALLISON was employed with the Department of Natural Resources, Sunny Corner branch. He had currently been working running lines in the Whitneyville area. Mr. ALLISON had been married fourteen years, spending some of those years working in Victoria and Nanaimo, BC. Here he worked for MacMillian-Bloedell. They returned to Whitneyville in August 1977 and purchased a modern mobile home last May.
HAD ONE CHILD - The ALLISONs had one child, Brenda. She died October 26, 1967 of cystic fibrosis. Wayne was an avid CBer, belonging to two clubs. Mrs. ALLISON stated that he loved the outdoors and loved skidooing, but despised guns.
The son of Stillman M. ALLISON and the late Isabel [Delle] FORSYTHE ALLISON, he is survived by his wife, Doreen; three brothers: Harvey, of Moncton, Derelle, of Boom Road, and Wendell, of Boom Road; several nieces and nephews.
The body rested at the Bell Chapel of Davidsons Funeral Home, where services were held at 2 p.m. yesterday. Rev. J. Posno officiated. Entombment was in the Boom Road Presbyterian Cemetery.
Active pallbearers were: Myles PARKS, Morris ALLISON, Laurie GAUDET, Glenn MATTHEWS, Sterling ALLISON and Peter WALLACE.
