Alexandre [Sandy] MARTIN passed away on October 31st at the Mount St. Joseph Nursing Home, Miramichi, NB. Sandy was born on September 11, 1927 and was 88 years old. He lived in Baie Ste Anne all his life. He was the son of the late Marguerite THIBODEAU and the late David MARTIN, also of Baie Ste Anne. He came from a family of seventeen siblings where only five remain; three sisters, Lorette, Ethel and Rolande; and two brothers, Reginald and Gerald.
He is predeceased by his wife, Evangeline POIRIER; and his oldest son, Gilles.
Sandy and Evangeline had six children of their own: son, Gilles [Wendy MERRITHEW], daughter, Denise [Eric McINTYRE], daughter, Micheline [Gerard BREAU] and son, Stephane [Lorina MARTIN]; Sandy and Evangeline lost two children, Micheline, at the age of seven months, and Jeremy, at birth. His grandchildren: Jason, Erica, Andre, Fauna, Ranine, Janelle, Ryan, David and Mia. His joy was continued with his great-grandchildren: Jeremy, Jarrett, Alexandre, William, Megan, Samuel, Madelaine, Lacey, Olivia, Kamy, Kelen, Phenix, Lilianne and Melodie.
Sandy was a carpenter by trade and worked with many people from his community and so many more from the Miramichi and surrounding areas. He was residing at the Mount St. Joseph for the past five years suffering from Alzheimers. Sandy was known by all for his kind heart, strength and hard working ethics. He was also a Grand Knight of The Knights of Columbus where he served for over forty years.
At his familys request, there will be no viewing and the celebration of his life will be held on Thursday, November 5th at 11 am at the Church Saint Anne in Baie Sainte Anne. The service will be officiated by Father Mario Doyle.
