Miramichi lost one of its oldest and most highly-esteemed residents in the death of Abraham MacKINLEY, who passed away at his home in Chelmsford very suddenly at 2:30 oclock Monday afternoon. He had been enjoying his usual good health, and was stricken very suddenly. His death was most instantaneous, and was a great shock to his family and friends.<br /> The late Mr. MacKINLEY was born in Upper Nelson seventy-nine years ago, the youngest son of the late John and Mary MacKINLEY. He lived in that vicinity his entire lifetime and engaged in farming and lumbering. He was active and smart in spite of his advanced age, and worked on the Southwest Boom last summer. Deceased was well-known in every part of the Miramichi, and his honest and upright character and genial personality made him popular in a wide circle, who will learn of his death with deep regret.<br /> Surviving are his wife, formerly Miss Carrie STOREY, of Doaktown, to whom he was married fifty years ago last autumn; eight sons and three daughters: Lester, Gordon, Ralph and Harold, all of Chelmsford, James, of Millerton, Harry, of Ohio, Clarence and Lawrence, of Wayne, NJ; [Edna] Mrs. A.L. MORRISSEY, of Cincinnati, Ohio, [Mabel] Mrs. Arthur FLOYD, of Winthrop, Mass. and [Kathleen] Mrs. Fred CLANCY, of West Newton, Mass. Two older brothers also survive, Dougal MacKINLEY, of Upper Nelson, and William MacKINLEY, of MacKinleyville, who is 94 years of age; also 19 grandchildren.<br /> The funeral was held at two oclock Wed. Afternoon and was very largely attended testifying to the respect in which the late Mr. MacKINLEY was held. The service was conducted by Rev. H.M. Alexander, pastor of the Blackville Anglican Church and the hymns were: Jesus Lover of My Soul and Nearer My God to Thee. Interment was made in the Saunders burying ground at Kirkwood.<br /> The pallbearers were: John W. CLARKE, James DUTHIE, William CASEY, John HACKETT, John HARPER and Earl SAUNDERS.<br /> A number of floral tributes and messages of sympathy were received from sorrowing friends and relatives. A.J.
