Mrs. James ALLISON, formerly Miss Susan HOSFORD of English Settlement, died Sunday morning at the home of her daughter, Mrs. William BROWN, Chaplins Island Road, after a short illness at the age of 93. Mrs. ALLISON, a most enthusiastic worker for the Red Cross up to the time this summer when she was unable to continue, was also a loyal member of the United Church, belonging to the congregation of St. James Church in Newcastle.
She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. BROWN; and two sisters, Mrs. Clara GRAHAM, of Williamstown, and Mrs. Herbert PHAIR, of Sevogle; seven step-children: Henry ALLISON, of Wayerton, Ritchie ALLISON, Mrs. Albert McCOOMBS and Mrs. William WAYE, all of Trout Brook, Mrs. Susan CHARLESTON, Mrs. A.E. PETRIE and Mrs. Charles CRAMMOND, of Newcastle.
The funeral was held yesterday afternoon at 2:30 conducted by Rev. J. M. Rice of Millerton. Hymns sung were: Nearer My God to Thee and Safe in the Arms of Jesus. Burial was in St. Janes cemetery, Newcastle.
Pallbearers were: Kiah COPP, A.E. PETRIE, Sgt. A.P. COPP, RCAF, Clifford ALLISON, Robinson ALLISON and Charles PHAIR.
Many beautiful floral tributs were received.

Mrs. James ALLISON, age 93 years, passed away Sunday morning at four o’clock after a short illness at the home of her daughter, Mrs. William F. BROWN, Chaplin Island Road. The late Mrs. ALLISON was before her marriage Miss Susan HOSFORD of English Settlement and was a life-long member of the United Church.
She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. William F. BROWN of Chaplin Island Road; five step-daughters: Mrs. Albert McCOOMBS and Mrs. William WAYE of Wayerton; Mrs. Susan CHARLESTON, Mrs. A. E. PETRIE and Mrs. Charles CRAMMOND of Newcastle; and two step-sons, Henry ALLISON and Ritchie ALLISON of Wayerton; also two sisters, Mrs. Clara GRAHAM of Williamstown and Mrs. Herbert PHAIR of Sevogle.
The funeral was held on Tuesday afternoon with service at the house at 2:30 o’clock conducted by Rev. J. M. Rice of Millerton. The hymns sung were: Nearer My God to Thee and Safe in the Arms of Jesus.
The pallbearers were: Kiah COPP, Arthur E. PETRIE, Arthur COPP, Clifford P. ALLISON, J. Robinson ALLISON and Charles PHAIR.
The funeral left the house at 3 o’clock for St. James cemetery where interment was made.
