ABANDON SEARCH - <br /> Mrs. Eldon LLOYD and her five children, Point Escuminac, were told on Christmas Day that there is little hope of Mr. LLOYDs being found alive. The active search for the lobster fisherman and his 28 foot fish craft has been called off.<br /> The news was a blow to his family, who had been hoping that he would be home to celebrate the 25th with them.<br /> LLOYD left Loggieville for his home, 30 miles away, in his boat and has not been heard from since. Aircraft of Chatham Air Base and RCAF Search and Rescue at Greenwood, NS, scoured the area for two days, but could find no trace of him. Lights were reported to have been seen on Portage Island on Thursday night by three different people, but when a boat went over on Friday, no one could be found. Trips to other islands were also futile.<br /> Planes, boats and residents of the area will continue to keep an eye for any trace of the missing man, but the organized search had been cancelled.<br /> Source: North Shore Leader - December 31, 1975 [25 years ago-1950]
