Word was received here this week of the death in Portland, Maine, of Mr. John ADAMS, for several years a resident of that city. The late Mr. ADAMS was a native of Strathadam, but for a number of years had been the Maine representative of Bentley & Co. of Boston, wholesale grocery brokers. Although he had been in failing health for the last year, or two, his death came as a shock to his relatives and friends.
Deceased is survived by his wife [nee Miss Mary Ella BAKER, formerly of Strathadam], of Portland, Maine; one brother, Anthony ADAMS, of Chatham; and three sisters, Mrs. James M. CONDON, of Moncton, who left for Portland on Monday, and two sisters residing in the West.
The late Robert ADAMS, for many years postmaster at Strathadam, was a brother.
The funeral was held in Portland.
