Mr. Michael Joseph YOUNG, of Williamstown, passed away on Thursday, May 5, 2011, at the age of 74. Born in South Esk, he was the son of the late Michael and Kathleen [OBRIEN] YOUNG. He worked as a millwright until his retirement.
Michael is survived by his wife, Loraine [SAVOIE]; two daughters, Sandra [Bill HAINING], of C.I. Road, and Shiela [John WALDRIFF], of Miramichi; two sons, Michael [Louise], of Napan, and Robert, of Williamstown; three sisters, Noreen [Alfred DRILLEN], of Lower Derby, Kathleen, of Miramichi, and Evelyn, of Ontario; one brother, Bill [Carolyn], of South Esk; five grandchildren: Holly YOUNG, Mike YOUNG, Frederick HAINING, Matthew WALDRIFF and Bailey WALDRIFF; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by two brothers, Hubert and Regan; and one sister, Ann.
The family received relatives and friends from Northumberland Funeral Home, on Friday, May 06, 2011, from 7 to 9 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, May 07, 2011, from St. Marys Roman Catholic Church, at 10 am, with Father Vincent Donovan officiating. Organist, Mary Butler, accompanied by the church choir, led the congregation in the singing of the hymns: Here I Am Lord; 23 rd Psalm; The Light of Christ; Songs of the Angels and Sing With All the Saints in Glory. John Manderville, accompanied by George Allain on the piano, also sang a solo to: The Fields of Athenry. The readings were done by Tim and Lynn OSMOND. Interment took place in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers were: George ALLAIN, John MANDERVILLE, Aubin SCHOFIELD, Shirley DUFFY, Leo MURDOCK and Tim OSMOND. Honorary pallbearers were: Angus McGRAW, Amy JARDINE, Art VIENNEAU and Herb KELLY.
An honour guard was formed by the Island View Seniors of Sunny Corner. Donations may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or to the Diabetes Association. Funeral arrangements are in the care of Northumberland Funeral Home, 102 Pleasant St. Telephone [506] 622-7741.
