David Albert YOUNG, 69, of Kentville, Nova Scotia, passed away Wednesday, January 20, 2010 at home. Born in Chatham, New Brunswick, he was a son of the late Harvey and Greta [OLEARY] YOUNG. He served with the Royal Canadian Navy and the Canadian Coast Guard, retiring from the Sir William Alexander. He carried out the tradition of his father, shoeing horses and doing blacksmith work. He enjoyed history, reading, spending time at home and caring for his late wife, Theresa. <br /> He is survived by a son, Shaun [Darlene], of Greenwood; two step-daughters, Beatrice [Fred] and Jeanie [Al], both of Hamilton, Ontario; a step-son, Norman [Josie], of Kentville; a brother, Paul, of Fredericton; 11 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. <br /> He was predeceased by his wife, the former Theresa BUCKLEY; two step-sons, Lester and George; a step-grandson, Peter. <br /> Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation, by family request. Services will be held at a later date in Miramichi, New Brunswick. Donations in memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia or the Canadian Cancer Society.
