The death of Gertrude [WHITTY] WRIGLEY, RN, 95, of 401 Humphrey St., New Haven, Conn., occurred Tuesday, June 3, 1997 at the Whitney Manor Health Care Centre in Hamden, Conn. She was the widow of Herman P. WRIGLEY. Born in Chatham, N.B., she was the daughter of the late James and Agnes [OREILLY] WHITTY. She was a graduate of the Hotel Dieu Hospital School of Nursing at Chatham and was the oldest living nurse from that school. She also practiced nursing at St. Raphaels Hospital, Yale New Haven Hospital for a number of years. She was a parishioner of St. Josephs Church, and a member of the One Twenty One Club of the church.<br /> She is survived by two daughters: Marilyn YATES, of New Haven, and Joan EDWARDS, of Hamden; brothers: Charles WHITTY and George WHITTY, of Miramichi, NB; John WHITTY, of Montreal, and one sister, Cecilia WHITTY, of Montreal; 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.<br /> She was predeceased by daughters: Rosemarie NIEBANK and Joyce SEYMOUR; and son, Peter J. WRIGLEY; a brother, Frank; and sisters: Mayme BELL and Elinor WHITTY, all of Chatham.<br /> Mass of Christian burial was celebrated at St. Josephs Church, New Haven, with interment in St. Bernards Cemetery.<br /> Source: Miramichi Leader - July 1, 1997
