ELDERLY FORMER MIRAMICHI COUPLE FOUND DEAD<br /> <br /> The deaths of a couple found in their home in Moncton came as a shock to family members here. Patrick WOODS, and his wife Anne Cecilia WOODS, both 74, of Milner Road, were found dead in their home Dec. 5th. When a family member tried to contact the couple to tell them of the death of Patricks' brother, Hubert of Toronto, she learned of the WOODS death when an RCMP officer answered the telephone. Hubert had died on Dec. 3 and was buried Dec. 6.<br /> <br /> Autopsies were performed on the couple but results haven't yet been released by the RCMP. Foul play is not suspected. However, a carbon monoxide monitoring device in the oil-heated home was placed in the house after the bodies were removed. Its believed they had been dead for some time.<br /> A neighbor described them as a very close couple who did everything together, including bowling in the seniors league, shopping and round dancing. They had lived on Milner Road for several years.<br /> Funeral service for the couple was held Friday, Dec. 9 at the Holy Family Roman Catholic Church in Moncton with Rev. Fr. H. Gratton officiating.<br /> <br /> Born in Craigville, Joseph Patrick WOODS was the son of the late James and Nellie (SULLIVAN) WOODS. He was employed as a civil engineer with CNR until retirement. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, the Engineers Assoc., the Seniors Bowling League, and a member of the Board of Directors of St. Patrick's Ceentre-Irish Cultural Assoc.<br /> <br /> Born in Chatham, Anne Cecilia WOODS was the daughter of the late George and Winnifred (O'KANE) NEALLY. A homemaker, she attended Holy Family Roman Catholic Church and was a member of the CWL, Seniors Bowling League, Engineers Wives Assoc., Round Dancing Assoc. and a volunteer at the Ray of Hope soup kitchen.<br /> <br /> They are survived by two sons, Kevin and Laurie, both of Toronto. <br /> <br /> Patrick is survived by four sisters: Sr. Kathleen, of Saint John, Mrs. James HOWES (Bessie), of Scarborough, ON, Mrs. Loretta NEALLY, of Chatham, and Mrs. Raymond DOUCETTE (Anne), of PEI; three brothers: Armond, of Chatham, Daniel, of Newcastle, and Raymond, of Nelson-Miramichi. He was predeceased by three brothers: Hubert and Dennis, of Toronto, and Edward, of Newcastle.<br /> <br /> Anne Cecilia is also survived by one sister, Mrs. Rose DRISCOLL, of Thorold, ON. <br /> <br /> She was predeceased by one sister, Maryanne RALPH, of Winnipeg; and two brothers, George and James NEALLY, of Chatham.<br /> <br /> Interment will be in Our Lady of Calvary Cemetery, Dieppe.<br /> <br /> Source: Miramichi Leader - December 13, 1994
