The funeral of Ernest WHITNEY was held from his residence at Whitneyville on Sunday afternoon, at 2:30 oclock. The service was conducted by Rev. Frank Roebuck of the United Church of Canada, assisted by Rev. Mr. Venoit of the Gospel Tabernacle, Newcastle. Members of the United Church choir and the Baptist choir of Whitneyville were in attendance. A large number of friends and relatives were present at the funeral.<br /> Mr. WHITNEY had been a life-long resident of Whitneyville and was well-known and highly-esteemed.<br /> He is survived by his wife, the former Sarah SOBEY; one son, Harvey; and four grandchildren.<br /> The pallbearers were: W. YOUNG, Mark SINCLAIR, W. PARKER, Harold WHITNEY, J. DUNNETT and Harry FORD. <br /> Interment was in the Whitneyville Baptist cemetery.<br /> Those from out of town attending were: Mr. and Mrs. Harvey WHITNEY, Saint John; Mr. and Mrs. Wallace MOORE, Saint John; Mrs. Harrison SMITH, Arnold and Gordon SMITH, of Woodstock.<br /> Source: North Shore Leader - May 10, 1957 [courtesy the collection of Ben Donovan] DOD fr.
