The death of 45-year-old Gordon Richard ALLISON, of Sillikers, occurred suddenly Sunday morning, February 13. He suffered a heart attack and died en route to the hospital. Born in Boom Road, he was the son of the late Edward and Janet [CRAIG] ALLISON. He was employed at Heath Steele Mines for the past 16 years.
He is survived by his wife, the former Vivian SILLIKER, of Sillikers; three daughters: Mrs. Allan PETERS [Elsie], of Caraquet, Mrs. Charles BOURQUE [Brenda], of Fredericton, and Sheree, at home; two sons: Brent, of Dartmouth, N.S., and Richard, of Saint John; and two grandchildren; eight brothers and one sister.
The body rested at his home in Sillikers from where the funeral was held Wednesday afternoon, February 16 conducted by Rev. Carmen Burns, assisted by Rev. Douglas Codling. The organist, Mrs. Donald Johnston, accompanied the soloist, Borden Davidson, and the choir.
All pallbearers were fellow employees of Heath Steele Mines. Honorary pallbearers were: Manley BLACK, Elmer CHAREST, Alastair SOBEY, Harry BRYENTON, Paul SUTHERLAND, and Gerald UNDERHILL. Active pallbearers were: Blair WAYE, Louis OSHEA, Clayton FORAN, Angus MANUEL, Walter LOGAN, and Hugh BLACK Jr.
Interment was in St. Stephens United Church Cemetery, Red Bank.
Among relatives attending the funeral from a distance were: Mr. and Mrs. Brent ALLISON, Dartmouth, Mr. and Mrs. Richard ALLISON and Mr. and Mrs. Donald SILLIKER, Saint John, Mr. and Mrs. Charles BOURQUE, Fredericton, Mr. and Mrs. Allan PETERS, Caraquet, and Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd PERRY of Centreville.
