Donald Alford ADAMS passed away Tues., April 13, 1999, at the Veterans Wing, Miramichi Sr. Citizens Center. Born in Matapedia, PQ, he was a veteran of World War II. Mr. ADAMS served as a captain in the Royal Canadian Engineers. He joined Fraser Companies and moved to Newcastle as Chief Electrical Engineer when the mill opened, and taught at Harkins HS and Miramichi Valley HS. Mr. ADAMS served on the former Newcastle Town Council and had two terms as Mayor. He served on UNB Board of Governors and the Newcastle Hospital Board, was active in Rotary, CNIB, and the Atlantic Salmon Federation. He was a life-long member of the Professional Engineers of NB and the Newcastle Curling Club. Having participated and been interested in sports all his life, he was also a member of the Edmundston, Fredericton, and NB Sports Hall of Fame. <br /> <br /> He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth (WATTERS); two children: Stephen and Jayne; brother, Gordon, last remaining member of family, and two grandchildren: Jocelyne and Alexander. <br /> <br /> At the request of the family, there will be no visitation. Memorial service will be held Sat., April 17, at 2 pm, from St. James and St. John United Church, with Rev. Bev Brazier officiating. Donations to CNIB would be appreciated. Davidson's Funeral Service Ltd. is in care of arrangements. <br /> <br /> Source: Miramichi Leader - April 16, 1999
