Mrs. Yvonne BRIDEAU, 75, of Victoria Ave., Bathurst, died Sunday, January 23, 2005, at Chaleur Regional Hospital, Bathurst, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Newcastle, she was the daughter of the late Dave and Lucie [FOURNIER] McLAUGHLIN. During her life, she was a Foster Parent to 19 children and 39 elderly men and women.
Besides her husband, Pierre BRIDEAU, she is survived by three sons: Gerald [Rose], of Madran, Marven [Pauline], of Allardville, Peter [Carole], of South Tetagouche; eight daughters: Annette FOURNIER [Sandie], of Pont LaFrance, Rita WHITE [Percy], Marie-Louise Theresa BLACK [late Basil], Debbie WILLET [Mike] and Gloria CHIASSON [Maurice], all of Bathurst, Bertha BRIDEAU [late Tom Roy], of Petit-Rocher, Sandra COLESTOCK [Richard], of Montague, PEI, Elva DOUCET [Reno], of Pointe Verte; one brother, Isaac McLAUGHLIN [Therese], of Néguac; four half-brothers: Ludger BRIDEAU [Marthe], of Brantville, Wilfred McLAUGHLIN [Lorraine], of Saint John, Gerard McLAUGHLIN [Clementine], of Baie Ste Anne, Joseph McLAUGHLIN [Debbie], of Saint John; two half-sisters: Matilda LaCASSE [Jean-Marie], of Rivière du Portage, Amanda KELLY [late Camille], of Néguac; 18 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her step-mother, Adeline BRIDEAU; newborn son, Henry; brothers: Gilbert, Alcide, Donat; sisters: Martha, Elizabeth, Jessie and Anita.
The body rested after 7 p.m. Tuesday at Elhattons Funeral Home, Bathurst. Funeral Mass was celebrated on Thursday afternoon, January 27, 2005, at 2 p.m. from Holy Family Church, St. Peter Ave. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. www.elhatton.com Donations to the IWK Hospital Foundation, the Bathurst Chaleur Emergency Homeless Shelter or a favorite charity. Visiting hours were Tuesday from 7 to 9, Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9, and Thursday from noon till time of funeral.
