Adolphe [Duffy] SAVOIE, 79, of 5546 Route 117, passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 26, 1999, at the Miramichi Hospital. Born in Baie Ste-Anne, he was the son of the late Olivier SAVOIE and Barbara MANUEL. He attended Ste-Anne Church, Baie Ste-Anne. He was a member of Knights of Columbus and Golden Age Club. He served with Regina Rifles overseas during WW II.
He is surived by his wife, Carmel; one daughter, Colette [Jacques MANUEL]; four sons: Jules [Nicole] and Donald, all of Baie Ste-Anne, Arnold [Norma], of Moncton, Clarence [Vikky], of Waterloo, Ontario; and one sister, Anna DOUCETTE, of Baie Ste-Anne; grandchildren: Sarah M., Rhea M., Alex M., Alain, Marie Josee, Renelle, Samuel SAVOIE; and by many nieces and nephews.
He is predeceased by his first wife, Virgine TURBIDE [1952]; and one grandson, Remi MANUEL [6 years old], in 1988.
Visitation was held Thursda, from 7-9, and Friday from 2-4 and 7-9. Mass of Christian burial was held on Saturday, Oct. 30., at 11 a.m. with Father Raoul LeBlanc and Fr. Robert Savoie officiating.
Active pallbearers were: Kenneth DOUCET, Mathieu, Claude SAVOIE, Michael DUPLESSIS, Pierre TURBIDE, and Bert McINTYRE. Honorary pallbearers were: Ade SAVOIE, Rudolph DOUCET, Maxime, Jacques, Edmond MANUEL, and Raymond MAZEROLLE.
Interment was in Baie Ste-Anne Cemetery. Arrangements were under the care of Mahers Funeral Home, Chatham, 773-4321.
