Robert Winter ALLEN, of 490 King George Highway, Newcastle, died Wednesday, September 2, 1987, at Miramichi Hospital after a brief illness. Born in Yarmouth, NS 81 years ago, he was a son of the late Mr. And Mrs. Harry ALLEN, of Yarmouth. A retired engineer at Fraser Pulp and Paper, he was a member of St. James and St. John United Church, Newcastle and the Good Times Fellowship Group.
He is survived by his wife, the former Kathryn CANN; a daughter, Mrs. Charles VOGT, of Detroit Lake, Minn.; a son, Gary, of Cowanville, Que.; two sisters: Mrs. Richard STURTEVANT (Genevieve), of Cape Cod, Mass., and Mrs. Beldon SHAW (Elsie), of California; seven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
The body rested at Bells Funeral Service, Newcastle. Funeral service was held Saturday afternoon, September 5th, at St. James and St. John United Church with Rev. R.E. Feltmate officiating, assisted by Rev. D.F. Hoddinott. Organist, Dr. J.A.I. MacMillan; hymns: Amazing Grace and Be Now My Vision.
The honorary pallbearers were: Sterling McNEILL, Don MacMILLAN, Jack STEVENS, Doug CAIN, and Ronald ODONNELL. The active bearers were: Jack KETHRO, Bob BARCLAY, Barry MacKAY, Bob MURPHY, Neville CASEY, and Ray GALLANT.
Burial was in the Miramichi Cemetery.
