WHITNEY MAN VICTIM OF DROWNING ACCIDENT <br /> Lloyd J. MUTCH, of Whitney, drowned last Saturday in a boating mishap on the Little Southwest River.<br /> Newcastle RCMP said Mr. MUTCH, one of four persons out hunting in area woods, had left the others to cross the river in a canoe sometime Saturday morning. A search was begun when his companions saw the empty canoe floating on the river about 1 p.m.<br /> RCMP were notified about 4:20 p.m. However, the body was located shortly afterwards.<br /> Corner Thomas Gallivan of Newcastle ruled no autopsy or inquest necessary. The drowning death was the first hunting-related fatality in the region so far this fall.<br /> Born in Whitney, he was a son of the late David and Bernice [JONES] MUTCH. He had been a painter by trade and was a member of the Baptist Church. <br /> He is survived by his wife, the former Gladys TOZER; a daughter, Mrs. John SOMERS [Lura], of Halcomb; two sons: Perry, of Red Bank, and Robert MUTCH, of St. Catherines, ON; two sisters: Audrey WHITNEY and Miss Dorothy MUTCH, both of Thunder Bay, ON; and eight grandchildren.<br /> The body rested at Bells Funeral Service, Newcastle, where service was held at 2 p.m. yesterday [Tuesday]. Interment was in the Boom Road Presbyterian Cemetery.<br /> Source: Northumberland News - November 10, 1982 <br /> ************************************************************************ <br /> FUNERAL - <br /> Funeral service for the late Lloyd MUTCH of Halcomb who died in a drowning accident on Saturday, Nov. 6, was held on Tuesday afternoon, Nov. 9 at the chapel of Bells Funeral service, Newcastle, conducted by Rev. Leslie Somers. Organist was Mrs. Kathleen Bryenton and hymns were: When The Roll Is Called Up Yonder and He The Pearly Gates Will Open. A solo: I Wont Have To Cross Jordon Alone, was sung by Carl Somers.<br /> Pallbearers were: Don LEACH, Guy SILLIKER, Frank MENZIES, Amos HARE, Morris ALLISON and Arthur MUTCH.<br /> Interment was in Boom Road Presbyterian Cemetery.
