Two sisters and a close friend were among five persons who died in a highway crash near Rogersville on Friday. Another sister was taken to Moncton Hospital in serious condition. Mrs. Isabel JAGOE, 62, her sister, Mrs. Dorothy ALLEN, 50, and Miss Hildur HAGGSTROM, 58, were fatally injured. Mrs. Florence PATTERSON SIMPSON, 61, of Carleton, Michigan, was in the same auto. She was seriously injured. Three of the women were daughters of the late William P. and Mary L. [McKEEN] STABLES.<br /> Mrs. JAGOE had recently returned to her home in Nordin after visiting married daughters in Sault Ste. Marie and Calgary. In company with her sisters, Mrs. ALLEN and Mrs. SIMPSON, all three planned to visit their brother, Charles STABLES, in Moncton. A life-long neighbour of Mrs. JAGOES, Miss HAGGSTROM, was invited along for the trip.<br /> <br /> THREE VEHICLES<br /> <br /> The accident involving three vehicles occurred about 3:30 p.m. It was raining at the time. Steven Lorne CROSSMAN, 17, of Newcastle with his sister, Deborah Jean, 15, were in an auto travelling from Moncton to their home. The auto carrying the STABLES sisters and their friends was proceeding in the opposite direction. After these two vehicles collided, a third auto crashed into the other two. The CROSSMAN brother and sister also died in the crash. Miss HAGGSTROM lived a short time but died in hospital at Moncton.<br /> <br /> ALSO FROM NEWCASTLE<br /> The driver of the third auto, Mrs. Rolla Jean MULLIN, of Newcastle, and her daughter and son, Lisa, 9, and Sandy, 7, were taken to Miramichi Hospital, Newcastle. They were not seriously hurt and were soon released. <br /> <br /> Before leaving on their trip, the sisters had telephoned their brother, Charles STABLES, at Moncton. An hour or two after their expected arrival, Mr. STABLES heard a report of the accident and learned two passengers had been taken to Moncton Hospital. He went to the hospital but no person there would give him the names of those admitted. He returned home and as the minutes passed without the arrival of his sisters his concern mounted. Later in the day he was given the tragic message. The accident involving so many well known persons in the Newcastle area cast a pall over the community.<br /> <br /> MRS. JAGOE<br /> <br /> Mrs. JAGOE was always a very active person. Her family kept horses and, in addition to her work and community activities she spent many hours in the saddle. Isabel JAGOE had been associated with her husband, John, in operating the French Fort Restaurant for several years. After they sold the business, she joined the staff of the North Shore Leader, she was a great help here because she knew people throughout the area. She was a diligent worker in the United Church and supported community organizations. A few months ago she retired to have more time at home and for visits with family and friends.<br /> She is survived by her husband, John JAGOE, at Nordin; daughters: Mrs. John GRAY, of Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, and Mrs. Heinz BLOCH, of Calgary, Alberta; brother, Charles STABLES, of Moncton; and sister, Mrs. Fraser [Florence] SIMPSON, of Carleton, Michigan.<br /> MRS. WILLIAM ALLEN<br /> <br /> Dorothy ALLEN, with her husband William T. ALLEN, operated the Modern Pastry Shop in Newcastle. Mrs. ALLEN was also well and favourably known among a host of friends in the community. In her younger years, Dorothy was well known throughout the area as a dancer on the stage. Later she conducted a dance class for several years and was missed when this work was given up. A member of the United Church, Dorothy had attended a convent and it was a nun who taught her to dance. Later she adopted the Jehovah Witness faith.<br /> <br /> Mrs. ALLEN is survived by her husband, William; two daughters; Mrs. James STEWART [Terry], of New Westminster, B.C., and Miss Cindy Lee ALLEN, of Newcastle.<br /> <br /> MISS HAGGSTROM<br /> <br /> Miss Hildur HAGGSTROM was born in Nordin, a neighbour of Mrs. JAGOE [Isabel STABLES]. Her parents had come from Sweden, when her father, Magnus, came to a lumber mill here. During the war, Miss HAGGSTROM joined the RCAF and was posted to Newfoundland. She served there until the womens division of the forces was disbanded. Later it was re-established and she rejoined the services for 18 years. She retired several years ago to the family home in Nordin. <br /> She was predeceased by her parents; and also by her younger brother, Arthur.<br /> Miss HAGGSTROM was a member of the United Church in Newcastle and was also active in the Rebekah Lodge for 35 years. She regularly attended RCAF annual reunions.<br /> Surviving Miss HAGGSTROM is a brother, Gunner HAGGSTROM; and two nieces and a nephew in Hamilton, Ontario.<br /> <br /> CROSSMAN<br /> <br /> A brother and sister, Steven and Debbie CROSSMAN, of Newcastle, died instantly as a result of a three car accident on a hill four miles south of Rogersville last Friday. They were the children of Mr. And Mrs. Lorne CROSSMAN, 458 Gremley Drive, Newcastle.<br /> Steven, 17, and Debbie, 15, were on their way home from Moncton when the accident occurred at approximately
