The death of A. Herbert MORELL, of Canterbury and Newcastle, occurred Thursday, November 15, at Saint John General Hospital after a few weeks illness. Born in Newcastle, he was the son of the late Walter and Annie [HAINES] MORELL. He was a former employee of the Royal Bank of Canada having served at various branches in Nova Scotia and New Brunswick, retiring as Manager of the Canterbury Branch in 1956. He was a life member and past president of the Woodstock branch of the Royal Canadian Legion and was also a member of Masonic Lodge #11, Woodstock.
Surviving is a daughter, Mrs. J. Cyril COOPER [Barbara], of Bermuda: two sons: William A., of Montreal, and Herbert L., of Nackawic; two sisters: Miss Janet L. MORELL, RN, and Mrs. A. P. COPP [Anne], of Newcastle; two brothers: Fred C., of Fredericton; and seven grandchildren.
His wife, the former Margaret Ann YOUNG, of Windsor, N.S., predeceased him in 1964.
The remains rested at Davidsons Funeral Home, Newcastle, until Sunday when they were taken to St. Andrews Anglican Church for service at 2:30 p.m. conducted by the Rev. Canon A. B. Craig.
Pallbearers were: James L. and David A. MORELL, nephews: Robert CARR and Vernon ADAMS: members of Woodstock branch Royal Canadian Legion: Herbert ROBERTS and Ellsworth PATTERSON, members of the Masonic Lodge, Woodstock.
Interment was in Miramichi Cemetery where the Legion service was conducted by Comrade Eulas Gallant, president of Provincial Command, Royal Canadian Legion. The Last Post and Reveille were sounded. Members of Woodstock Branch No. 11 of the Royal Canadian Legion formed a guard of Honour at the church and at the grave.
Attending the funeral from a distance were relatives and friends from Bermuda, Montreal, Saint John, Fredericton, Moncton, Woodstock, Minto, Nackawic, and Canterbury.
